Here’s a crazy statistic: Seventy-five percent of the applicants to Stanford are admittable. However, only five percent of these applicants receive a “You’ve been admitted!” letter or email.

Hey guys! I hope everyone is having a great summer vacation, and is ready to start out a great new school year.
I’m Eari Nakano ‘20 - a proctor at one of the dorms at Tabor. I want to say welcome to the new students and briefly introduce “dorm life” as well as the role of proctors.

Welcome from the Student Co-Heads of School
Together, as the co-heads of school, our goal is to celebrate everyone's individuality by building upon our inclusive environment. Being “the big dogs” this year, we also hope to bring energy to different aspects of the school, lifting up all the people around us. Tabor has such a diverse community, but whether you are American or international, boarding or day, an athlete, an artist, or whatever your interest, we want to make sure that every individual feels important and a part of something bigger than themselves this year.

A quick perusal of the This Day in History (August 22) will show not too many major historic events of interest happened in our past – or at least not things most of us carry around in our general historical knowledge.

I had the good fortune to attend and graduate in 1984 from Tabor. My experience included structure and focus on academic rigor and athletic discipline, as well as my initial learnings on leadership development. Keeping Our Youngest Alumni Engaged

That said, we know that travel is not always an option, so we set out to create the best possible virtual tour to show off our beautiful seaside campus.

Neuroplasticity - Teachers’ Brains are Changing Too!
Whenever I am at a conference, I always opt for the sessions that have the keyword “research-based” or “neuroscience.” Since teaching is all about building that neuron network, learning more about the related studies makes sense to me. Therefore, 5 days at CTTL, the Center for Transformative Teaching & Learning, where all sessions are backed by both experienced teachers and prestigious researchers, made me feel like a kid in a candy store.

Yesterday, after a VERY long plane ride to Costa Rica, we all hopped into a couple of vans and drove to a restaurant that had really good food. After we left the restaurant we had another very long drive to Finca la Anita, where we learned all of the rules. For dinner we had (the best!) tilapia, potatoes, an interesting type of melon, and a flan-like cake with cacao nibs for dessert. (Every night, they have a dessert that has some form of chocolate on/in it, so a lot of us are excited about that.)
