I didn’t put on my blue suede shoes, but just a few weeks ago I boarded a plane and touched down in the land of the Delta Blues.

An essay about Senior Projects
When talk of senior projects began this fall, I initially wasn’t thinking of doing one. I was enjoying my classes, and hesitant about dropping any. The scope of senior projects daunted me, and I was concerned my work would either overwhelm or disappoint me.

March’s two-week long break allowed me to both get caught up on some loose ends in the college office and also make a trip to the Southwest. I was sorry when the time approached for me to head back East, especially when I looked at the weather and realized that my flight coincided with the third Nor’easter in several weeks, so I changed my reservation to arrive in Boston a day earlier than originally planned.

This fall, I started reaching out to college rowing coaches in hopes of continuing to pursue one of my passions at the next level when I graduate next year. In an email I received from one coach, there was a link at the bottom that brought me to a video about a partnership between their rowing team and Special Olympics that brought Special Olympics athletes to their boathouse and introduced them to the sport of rowing.

Three seniors and three juniors along with faculty Mackenzie Chaput and CK Kennedy, explored their interests in science, math, engineering, and technology and how these fields interconnect for innovation. They also learned how women are participating and leading in these fields today. Enjoy their blog of their exciting trip to New York below!

This past spring break I had the amazing opportunity to travel to Copenhagen, Denmark, with the Tabor’s Rysensteen Gymnasium Exchange. I first became excited about this trip when Mr. DaSilva spoke about the school exchange in an all-school meeting last spring. After he finished his presentation, I immediately texted my mom and asked if I could go on the trip.

My involvement in the Tabor Model United Nations program has been an amazing experience. As a lover of debate, I have always been skilled in arguing my point and convincing others of its strength, but Model UN has also taught me the importance of working with others, and that unity and resolution can be found even with many strong opinions being voiced.
