Ever since I discovered Youtube and Youtubers I have been addicted to them. I would watch my favorite vloggers, beauty gurus, and comedians online habitually. I always thought they lived lives that were full of fun and adventure. For the longest time, I wanted to live exactly like them - by recording my days and adventures and making everyday an experience.
A young child with protective parents, I lived vicariously through these strangers’ experiences online. While I watched these entertainers skydiving, I flew from the swings. But flying from the swings was safe and inexpensive compared to these travellers of the world who jumped from city to city. These vloggers had influenced me through their varied engagement with the world. Their extraordinary lives inspired me to make everyday count. So it is not surprising to reveal that I have been thinking about starting a Youtube channel for almost eight years now, but my courage eluded me--the online world was too critical for me. But now, Senior Projects has finally given me the perfect excuse to try!
I borrowed a camera from school, and set up iMovie on my computer. I began recording my days, later editing during nights, and finally uploading products the next day. Through this process, I’ve had many failures but also many successes. My successes now are exceeding my losses as it becomes easier to make videos. Now I am creating three videos a week. It’s a way to collect the amazing memories that I’ve made here at Tabor. I’ve already created a stop motion animation - which is a video made solely on pictures, as well as a short film about anxiety and stress. The last project I need to complete is a music video using music that my fellow peers Edward Hannon and Reventh Munnangi have created.
I am so happy that I had the chance to complete one of my childhood dreams. I would have never known that creating videos was my passion until I started my project.
Although I may not have one million followers, and am not a real Youtube star, I know that thirty-years from today, I’ll be able to look back and be proud of the work I did here at Tabor.
