Thank you, Edson Marine!

Posted by ksaltonstall on Feb 15, 2013 8:51:59 AM

When Tabor alumni Will ’71 and Hank Keene ‘70, owners of Edson Marine, learned that students in the Practical Ship and Boat Design classes were in great need of additional spline weights for the design aspects of their course, they stepped right in to help. They wanted to encourage our hands on learning approach to boat design.

Spline weights with splines, shown on the table in the photo above, allow the designer to set up “fair” boat curves in the design process. Because of the popularity of modern computer aided design (CAD) methods, spline weights and splines are difficult to find. Edson Marine is one of the few marine suppliers that still sell spline weights.

The Practical Ship and Boat Design students wish to thank the Keene brothers and Edson Marine for their support and generosity!

Music to my Ears!

The decorations are up, earlier and earlier each year it seems. The invites to parties are in the mail and the practices for the concerts of seasonal music have come and gone. It is time now to enjoy the season, to live it, and this weekend things get very serious here in Marion: This weekend is the Christmas Stroll, the Holiday House Tour and the Church Holiday Luncheon. There are friendship dinners ahead, cookie swaps and many holiday treats to enjoy; and yet, the spirit of the season is escaping me so far. No snow, grey rainy days: it just doesn't feel like Christmas, yet. But....perhaps soon, I do have hope. You see, for me, it is the music that moves me away from the crazy and commercial aspects of the season and into the season of the heart.

The Girls Varsity Soccer Team is on the comeback trail. In the mid-2000's, under Coach Ian Patrick '84, the team won the NEPSAC Championship multiple years in a row. It seems they have a title in their sites yet again.

There is so much to be thankful for in our lives here at Tabor and after the last couple of weeks, and the season that is upon us, I am feeling that strongly.
