Smiles of Tabor Academy

Given some independence to come up with a class project for a couple of days in April when their teacher was out of town at a conference, the students in Junior English created two internet based projects based on the Humans of New York phenomenon created by Brandon Stanton which they were studying in class.

One class created a Facebook page called Smiles of Tabor, while the other section created an Instagram site called Slice of Life featuring people from the town of Marion.

Screen Shot 2015-05-15 at 3.06.21 PMThe students really enjoyed learning more about people they didn't necessarily know very well at school and around the village, and having the independence to manage a project on their own. As it summarizes on the Slice of Life "About" page, these stories open us to a new awareness and curiosity about our neighbors and the realization of the uniqueness of everyone's perspective. What the student's came up with is very engaging, and I thought you would enjoy hearing about their work, and seeing their product.

Enjoy meeting some of the people here at Tabor and in our town through these projects.
