Not only was our Girls Varsity undefeated soccer team named Co-Champs of New England, but several other teams are deserving of mention. Our Varsity Field Hockey team had a wonderful season (10-6-0) and our boys and girls cross country teams dominated the courses around New England (17-3 and 13-5 respectively). Our boys took second in the NE Championships with three of our runners in the top 15, qualifying them for All-Stars. The teams sent four athletes to the All-Star meet this year. We will likely be cheering our cross country runners and our girls soccer teams for several years to come given the undefeated season the JV teams in both sports completed! So, wow!! Congratulations, indeed.
One of the changes that may have impacted these teams so strongly was the leadership training for team captains the athletic department put in place this year. Each season's team captains will now have access to weekly meetings to set goals, to discuss their roles as captains in reaching those goals, and to talk with members of the athletic department and faculty coaches about the different forms leadership takes.
As the winter season now begins, the winter captains will begin their own leadership training, picking up where the fall captains left off and filling some big shoes indeed!
