An Historic Moment!

The Class of 2013 has graduated, and our students have had their "moving up" ceremony which crowns new leaders and physically moves them from their old chapel seats up to their new views as Seniors, Juniors and Sophomores. While always a fun service, this year a little history was made.

As new leaders were announced, Holly Francis '14 was named XO of TABOR BOY, our first woman in this role. It was no surprise to her crew or our community that Holly was selected, rising from her current position as Bosun. She is an exceptional blue water sailor, having spent a year sailing in the Caribbean and South America with her family before Tabor, but her specialty and true love is TABOR BOY, where she has already worked two summers as an officer for our orientation program.

Holly is eager to lead this year during a Caribbean Studies year, a more demanding year as the vessel sets sail for the USVI for several months in the winter to be home and research platform for our student researchers. She is eagerly looking forward to helping with the deliveries, as well as a week onboard in the Caribbean. She will also have an important role in helping us celebrate TABOR BOY's 100th birthday in 2014, as she greets alumni and friends at the many celebratory gatherings to be hosted.

All A Taut O, Holly! Our best to you!
