Hurricane Sandy certainly gave all of us here at Tabor something to think about and something to be thankful for this Thansgiving season! We got off, essentially, scott free. Relieved to the core, especially after seeing what we have been spared, I am enormously grateful for our good fortune. That said, I am feeling some survivors guilt.
Watching the news and seeing the destruction in NJ and NY is totally overwhelming: what if that had been our lovely school by the sea, or our town, our house. And yet, when I think just a bit more broadly, it is our house, our town, our community. Our Tabor community extends to those areas affected by this horrific storm. To all those who have experienced the real wrath of Sandy, let me say, from all of us, that we are thinking of you.
These times are made for the best of humanity to shine through and bring hope and comfort to those in need. And I know there are well trained Tabor alumni helping through all the right channels available such as The Red Cross, local churches or other helping non-profits, as well as working on the front lines to make things right for people and their communities, and that makes me feel much better.
I hope you will share your stories here or on our Tabor Academy Facebook page to help inspire others. And I also know you join me in sending our best hopeful wishes to our extended Tabor family for a speedy recovery from these stormy times.
