Remember your favorite teacher? I hear stories constantly about Tabor icons from the 50's, 60's and early 70's such as: Luchini, Stokes, "The Bear," Buffinton, Lavoie, Wickenden. More recent grads tell tales of the Rollers, Duff, Cobbold, Whitey, and others. As new teachers come to Tabor, regardless of their longevity here, they inspire current students through their care and expertise, just as when you were here.
Today, we welcome and celebrate the incoming class of new Tabor faculty! They have three full days of orientation ahead of them to learn everything from where things are, to how our duty structure and benefit plans work. It is a very full week for them, like drinking from a fire hose! We hope they survive the dousing and we wish them all the best for a happy and productive career at Tabor!
Here are a few facts and figures about our newest faculty members.
Of seven new faculty:
Three have graduate degrees (50% of our faculty have advanced degrees).
Four are seasoned teachers.
Two are interns in athletic training, one is an alum coming from the professional art community to cover for a teacher who is enjoying a well-deserved one semester sabbatical.
They teach history, Spanish, chemistry and ceramics.
They hail from New England, NY and DC.
With one of the lowest rates of faculty turnover of our peer schools (usually less than 5%), it is possible that one of these teachers might make icon status! In any case, they have already made the history books.
We welcome them all!
