Joy of the Season

This is the time of year when many people send a card, or in our case a video, to wish everyone the joys of the season. Here is our's in case you missed it!

Cards and video greetings are great and let us know people are thinking about us, but the real joy of the season is being spread by our kids.

Our students, after many hours in class and on the playing fields, have committed themselves to service this year in a big way. We receive news every day of a team (read story) or an advisor group going out into the community (read story) to help people in need. They do this all year, not just during this season of giving. Recently, the whole community pulled out all the stops to handle a list of specific needs requested from our service partner Gifts to Give.

About a month ago, the charity put out a call for items for young boys. They were short on critical items such as socks, underwear, warm coats etc., which they new would be in high demand for the holidays. Tabor answered the call. A quick and motivating e-mail mobilized the community and we packed a van with the specific items they needed. In fact, I think we overwhelmed the volunteers with all that we were able to collect from our generous students and faculty. It was heartwarming to see the students respond so quickly and so generously in a short time.

So, rest assured they are learning the ropes as you would have them do. They are giving of their time, treasure and talent, and they are giving regularly, not just seasonally. We are enormously proud of their efforts.

To celebrate their joyful exuberance, please join us for their gift of song at our annual Lessons and Carols this Sunday, December 15 at 7:30pm in Wickenden Chapel. If you haven't caught the season's spirit yet, you most certainly will on Sunday in Chapel.

Best to you all this holiday season. May it be BRIGHT!!
