Impactful Art

I just came across the LinkedIn profile of our alum Jon Converse ’81. On the profile there is, of course, an engaging description of Jon’s professional life, but being a graphic artist there was also a visual: a video montage of his work over the last 20 years. Talk about a revealing resume: this guy has done some amazing work! Not only was it intriguing to see how he would create a video that pulled together 20 years of projects in a two minute piece, but I was amazed by how much of his work I recognized.

I can’t believe how much of our popular culture Jon has actually created for us: not the ideas or content for the shows and movies, but the visuals and brands that identify and describe them (and get us to consume them). As a mother of two teenagers, I recognized much of the Disney and Pixar movies that I brought my children to back in the day: Nemo, Cars, Hannah Montana, Jonus Brothers, Lemonade Mouth, and I recognized something I just saw in a movie preview last week, Free Birds, and so many more. It was fun! I hope you will watch it and enjoy it, too! Perhaps you will experience the same feelings of pride I did.

It is always gratifying to me to see how our Tabor alumni impact our world. People share their talents in so many different ways: through business ideas, through art, music, compassion, service, countless ways. It was so interesting to notice how many ways this man, through his art, has influenced the way I have experience the world. And, moreover, it was that much more fun knowing it was a Seawolf!

Well played, Jon!
