I hope you enjoyed the video introduction of John Quirk. I wanted to share how much fun I had supporting John Rice '70 and his team in making it and to thank him for his effort.

John Rice came to us with the idea of using video to share more accurately the Tabor of today and to allow John Quirk some wide exposure with alumni. He shared a broad vision of how this medium could help us, and offered to train me and others to help make it happen. His donation of this project was incredible as there are literally days of work involved in creating just a two minute piece. But his effort has definitely proven his point and has moved Tabor's communications effort to a new place. We are so appreciative of his enthusiasm for Tabor, and for his professional time and energy. I hope you will agree that the video is something we can all be proud of. We need to do more!

John's background in TV and documentaries was just what we needed to make John Quirk and the other faculty and students featured feel comfortable in front of the camera. It took a while to get used to his industry jargon, but we caught on! His approach was direct and easy going. It is not a natural behavior to speak directly into a camera, or to have a camera up close and personal as you are working with students, but everyone did a great job of just settling into it and keeping it natural. No divas here!

The video is a result of a couple of hours of footage of everything happening that day on campus. We spent the whole day walking into classrooms and capturing all the action on film. It was impressive to witness the amount of hands on learning that is happening here everyday, every hour, as well as the willingness of the students and faculty to share with us. All that footage you saw in the video was just one day at Tabor, boiled down into a two minute message!

John Quirk, for his first effort on camera did a terrific job. I am sure he did not think when he took this job that he would be starring in videos, but it has proven to be an amazing medium to communicate. Communication is one of the things John Quirk hopes to do exceedingly well here at Tabor, with all of us, so he is eager to use whatever methods work best. I congratulate him on this first effort with our alumni community. He did a terrific job!

Our thanks to the two John's for their willingness to craft such a personal and professional communication. They made Tabor proud!
