In February, as is our custom, we will be presenting a musical on the big stage in Fireman Performing Arts Center in Hoyt Hall. This is always a big moment for our students and for our entire community as everyone looks forward to seeing the play.

On February 21, 22, 23 at 7:30 p.m. the curtain will rise and Tabor will present Damn Yankees! Damn Yankees has been one of the best-selling Broadway musicals of all time. Here's the story-line: Middle-aged baseball fanatic Joe Boyd trades his soul to the Devil, also known as Mr. Applegate, for a chance to lead his favorite team to victory in the pennant race against the New York Yankees. As young baseball sensation Joe Hardy, he transforms the hapless Boston Red Sox into a winning team, only to realize the true worth of the life he's left behind with his loyal wife, Meg. Joe ultimately outsmarts Applegate and the seductive Lola, and returns to his former self, and shepherds the Red Sox to the World Series. Light, fast-paced and devilishly clever, Damn Yankees is a home-run hit featuring all-American subject matter and an irreverent sense of humor. The show also has a terrific song list with dynamic, athletic choreography supported by student-designed and built sets and lights. Click here for ticket sales. In the meantime, save those dates to see Damn Yankees.

Also playing at Tabor in March: Christopher Durang’s Miss Witherspoon: a wickedly funny play about a woman named Veronica, who has committed suicide but is forced to go through repeated reincarnations to save mankind and the planet. This play will be performed in the Will Parker Black Box Theater on the second floor of Hoyt Hall on February 28, March 1 and 2. Reservations for the 7:30 performances can be made at the switchboard during the week preceding the opening night, 508-748-2000; these tickets are free.
